COVID-19, flu and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) continue to circulate throughout the year and can cause serious illness in some people, particularly older adults, young children, pregnant women and those with certain long-term health conditions.
Most respiratory infections can be managed at home with rest, fluids and over-the-counter medicines where appropriate. If you are concerned about your symptoms, please visit NHS 111 online or call 111 for advice.
Symptoms of Respiratory Infections
- Common symptoms may include:
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Runny or blocked nose
- Fever or high temperature
- Headache
- Muscle aches
- Shortness of breath
- Feeling tired or unwell
When to Seek Medical Help
Please contact NHS 111 or seek medical advice if:
- Your symptoms are severe or worsening
- You are concerned about an underlying health condition
- You are worried about a child who is unwell

Vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself and others from serious illness.
Eligible patients may be offered:

- COVID-19 vaccination
